Creation Contest

Innovation at the heart of Verallia's culture

By initiating the Packaging Design Competition in 2009, Verallia France aimed to provide a "laboratory" that would enable design and packaging students to explore the creative, technical, and marketing potential of glass packaging.

Sponsored by people from the design community, the competition attracts several hundred participants per year from the leading schools of France.

The jury, which is mainly composed of Verallia's clients, consists of people who come from diverse fields: from retailers to journalists to trend agencies.

Each year, students are invited to participate in this contest based on a specific theme related to the jars and bottles market, which opens the doors to new design opportunities and innovations for food and beverage packaging.

2013 – 2014 Edition:

Vintage… At the peak of modernity
How can revamped vintage inspire today and tomorrow's glass bottles and jars?
Like icons of the past that have become those of today, such as the FIAT 500, the Solex, Ray-bans…

Verallia, global actor in glass packaging for food and beverages produced 25 billion glass bottles and jars in 2012.
In France, the bottles produced represent around 60% of Verallia's sales volume compared to 40% for jars. Participants' proposals should take this segmentation into account.

2012 - 2013 Edition's sponsor : François Clerc

François Clerc

Educated at "L'Ensci-Les Ateliers" François Clerc now divides his time between Paris, London and Taipei.

As a botany enthusiast, this young 36 year old designer is inspired by nature to create everyday life objects. Sensitive to the quality of materials and to the manufacturing processes, François Clerc also takes into account the environmental components during the production of objects.

This particular focus on industrial production has recently paid off with a brand of organic products sold in Taiwan and numerous partnerships with "Nature et Découvertes".

Screen-Pot is a container for climbing plants that enables the creation of real movable partitions. This is ideal for creating privacy, separating spaces or sheltering from wind. The laser cut steel gives a very graphic look inspired by natural shapes.

2011-2012 Edition's sponsor : Elise Fouin

Élise Fouin

Graduated from « Ecole Boulle », she uses all types of materials as a starter for the creation of her projects. Very sensitive to the sustainable development, she looks into the garbage, the discards of the society to discover what could become beautiful tomorrow, she magnifies the material that is always at the heart of her creations.

This young designer has a very unique approach when it comes to design. She thinks about the materials before thinking about the object. She likes playing with the sensitive and tactile aspects of the materials that she uses and do not hesitate to recreate them with a very delicate and personal touch. She transforms, unwinds, adjusts, wraps, polishes, varnishes until that the object can be born. Thanks to this unique way of transformation, each piece becomes unique and its shape is never the same.

Recognized for the delicacy and the poetry of its work on materials in particular the paper, Elise Fouin has been "Talent à la Carte" on Maison and Objects in 2010, received the Face of Design Prize Berlin for all her creations and represents the new generation of young French designers selected by magazines ELLE Decoration and Maison Française. Symbol of porosity between art and design, her design is the opportunity to participate in more artistic projects and to exhibit at Tools Gallery and in Granville Gallery in Paris. She now collaborates with several luxury and mass-market brands as well space, product and furniture design.

Elise Fouin was born in 1979, she lives and works in Paris. www.elisefouin.com
