Verallia’s glassmaking expertise is applied to produce the most prestigious Champagne bottles -- the big bottles. During exceptional production campaigns, the Oiry plant, near Epernay (France), manufactures 9-liter (Salmanazar), 12-liter (Balthazar) and 15-liter (Nebuchadnezzar) bottles.
This feat is primarily technical – the big bottles are manufactured in a semi-artisanal manner, with molds that are up to 20 times larger and heavier than for a 750 ml bottle. The glass composition also has to be adjusted to permit a slower pace and forming under the best possible conditions.
Above all, however, the production of a big bottle is a human adventure, made possible by the involvement and expertise of experienced glassmakers. It is this constant care and attention that enable Verallia to offer the widest range of Champagne bottles available on the market: from 187 ml to the 15-liter Nebuchadnezzar!
